Our Learning
We have realized that a little move from our side will bring a big change in the society. We are the ‘Movers and Shakers’.
A presentation was made by using windows movie maker. This was presented in front of the principal and other teachers. We also did a presentation with charts in the morning assembly to spread the awareness among our friends. We have formed a task force who will keep a watch and stop the wastage of water.
Our Project
Water scarcity is a global problem. Read an article on the topic:
We have observed that several water taps of our schools are dripping. We realize that it leads to the wastage of the most precious natural resource. So we decided to measure the water leakage in our school.
Action Plan:
We took a 1 litre bottle and tied it to a dripping tap next to our class room.
We collected the following data:
1. Collection of water in 1 litre bottle
2. i. Amount of water wastage in 1 hour -2 litres
Hence:
ii. In 24 hours- 48 litres
iii. 1 week – 336 litres
iv. 1 month- 1440 litres
v. 1 year=48x365 = 17520 litres
3. Amount(in Rs) of wastage was calculated.
i. One litre bottle of drinking water costs about Rs.10/-.

So the total wastage in Rupees is :- 17520 litres x 10 = Rs.1,75,200.
Our final calculation shows how much money also gone into the drain in just 1 year through just one tap in our school.
4. We took photographs and video of the leakage for record.
